New LEGO Ideas Hidden Secrets Challenge Has Begun!

A brand new LEGO Ideas challenge has begun, Hidden Secrets, that results in creating a new gift with purchase set!

The build challenge focuses on creating a set with a concealed secret. Why not craft a build that goes inside out? It could be a cross-section cutaway, unremarkable from the front but astonishing from the back. Or perhaps discovery swings on a hinge, opening to reveal the intricate inner workings of an everyday item? Will pulling this lever expose a hidden switch? What will happen when we turn that wheel? Half the fun of a treasure hunt is pushing disguised buttons and solving intricate clues. Consider including features and mechanisms that lead builders on a journey to your reveal. The cheekiest way to hide something is to not hide it at all – Think buried treasures peeping out of the sand or playful perspectives just waiting to be discovered. Don’t be afraid of design features like color-coded bricks and silhouettes to create visual riddles, either. 

There are guildines to follow such as a limit of no more than 250 elements and your submission can only feature up to two Minifigures. The prize pot is epic, with the grand prize winner receiving a handful of past LEGO Ideas sets and their finished model. Once the submission phase is over fans will have the chance to vote for the favourite. You have until 29th July to submit your entry followed by the fan vote 11th August.

Psst! We’ve been keeping a secret…

We have a new challenge – and the Grand Prize Selection will see their creation turned into a future LEGO® Ideas Gift with Purchase set!

For this exciting challenge, we want you to build a creation with a hidden secret. We’re looking for your builds that take us by surprise with a cunningly concealed secret or an astounding discovery!

But before you dive into your brick bucket, check out everything you need to know first…

 

Secrets revealed

It’s important that the ‘hidden’ element of your build is findable! We really want to feel that rush of realization when we finally crack the case. Think about how your creation can play with the ‘hidden’ theme in a way that balances secrecy with surprise.

 

Be original

Embrace the playful storytelling possibilities of this challenge to reveal a totally original creation. Your build can reinterpret the everyday or embrace the otherworldly… just remember to show us something completely new. No IPs, please!

 

Mini adventures

The maximum piece count for your creation is 250 LEGO elements, and no more than two minifigures are allowed. So, make your journey of discovery truly thrilling without breaking the brick bank.

 

Mystery prize

To add to the fun, we’re keeping one of the prizes under wraps, too! It’ll be an incredible LEGO Ideas set… but that’s all we’re telling you for now.
