Ser Duncan the Tall LEGO Minifigure from FireStar Toys!

Ser Duncan the Tall LEGO Minifigure from FireStar Toys!

When it comes to custom printed Minifigures we like to think we know what makes a good one. With many characters in our collection from various outlets, we certainly know what to look for. Firestar Toys most recent release is Ser Duncan the Tall from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms!

The spinoff series from the Game of Thrones franchise was received well by fans, myself included. It was a great show that centered around a single location and a handful of characters, the star of which was Ser Duncan the Tall. Played by Irish actor Peter Claffey, who was also a former professional rugby union player. His portrayal of the main character was excellent and one of the reasons I needed this awesome custom printed LEGO Minifigure.

From placing my order to receiving it was quite lengthy I won’t lie, just under three weeks. I’m not sure if this was due to the high demand but it’s the longest I’ve had to wait from FireStar Toys. Inside the box was the unique plactic case all their Minifigures come in, although this one’s cardboard backdrop was of a generic design and not themed to Medieval times, which is a shame.

Opening the case and finally holding the Minifigure in my hand, I can appreciate the slightly higher price point of Firestar Toys. The first thing that grabs you is the detail, it’s stunning, showing off dirt patches, creases in the clothing, chain mail, ropes, and more, I particularly like the dual faces, one plain and the other battered and bloody. With full body printing, it truly brings Ser Duncan the Tall to life, complete with his sword, shield and helmet, which are all custom pieces.

Coming in at £24.95, the Minifigure does seem a little high in price, but like I mentioned above once you see it in person and are holding it, you really see where the money goes. The time, effort and skill that went into creating this well crafted Minifigure, you soon excuse the price.

With the included accessories, a sword, shield and helmet, the character is complete and really does look the part – ready for his tourney. These accessories are 3D printed and look great, especially the shield. It’s a smaller element than the official LEGO ones but I actually prefer these as it seems a better scale for a Minifigure. The printing looks fab too and really pops with colour. I’m so happy to finally have him in Minifigure form and in my collection, the amount of photography shoots he will go on will be many, there’s a local Castle ruin near me which will be perfect for epic outdoor shots.
